SSC-Khatumo leader visits Djibouti to strengthen regional peace and stability

in Djibouti on Saturday following an invitation from the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh.

The SSC-Khatumo administration announced on Facebook that the leader’s visit aims to strengthen brotherhood, peace, and stability in the region, as well as support the rebuilding of the Somali government.

The delegation from Sool, Sanaag, and Ayn (collectively known as SSC-Khatumo) includes members of Firdhiye’s cabinet, notably the Minister of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation, the Minister of Water and Electricity, and senior advisors.

SSC-Khatumo had previously accused the Djibouti government of being involved in the conflict in Las Anod town, an accusation denied by Djibouti’s Minister of Finance, Ilyas Musa Dawaleh.

Firdhiye’s visit to Djibouti highlights the political conflict between Somaliland and Djibouti over the recent MoU between Somaliland and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Somaliland President Muse Bihi Ahmed accused Ethiopia of hosting members of the Awdal State Movement (ASM), which opposes Somaliland’s self-declared independence and advocates for the unity of Greater Somalia.

In response, Djibouti’s Minister of Finance, Ilyas Musa Dawaleh, refuted President Muse Bihi’s accusation, affirming that Djibouti will always remain a beacon of regional dialogue and not a source of regional fragmentation.
